HAWORTH PLATFORM TENNIS ASSOCIATION, INC.
League Play Tournaments Social Events
Over the course of our season, which runs from Labor Day until Memorial Day, we try to sponsor a variety of events to keep all members actively engaged. This spans the most competitive matches to purely social times on and off the courts.
For those women who are interested in competitive play, on Wednesdays starting on October 22, 2014 there is a local Women's Interclub Paddle League. Those results can be found at http://acesportsadmin.com/wipl/Standings.asp. There are 8 players on the team each week, but alternates are always welcome and are necessary to complete a full season. Please call or email Jackie Albarella if you are interested.
Also beginning in October, the men have their New Jersey State League on Saturday mornings for 9 weeks through the first week in December. This is followed by the League Classic Tournament, which enters 128 teams from all over the state. The HPTA has two teams entered, one in the B League, and the other in G. All teams have 8 players, and there are normally a few others who serve as alternates. With a total of 20 men participating in this competitive play, there is ample opportunity for all members interested in this aspect of the game. For current and complete match results go to http://www.paddlepro.com/njmpta/standings.php. If you have interest in playing on the team, call or email either Bernie Troy or T. J. Bambach.
LEAGUE CLASSIC - DECEMBER 13 & 14
During the late winter and early spring we schedule our three major intra-club tournaments, the Women's Championship, Men's Championship, and the Mixed Doubles Championship. All members are encouraged to join in, as everyone is guaranteed at least three matches and a lot of laughs and good food. Everyone likes to win, but, to be honest, it's more about days of good paddle and just a friendly day of hanging out with friends.
TBA WOMENíS TOURNAMENT - Call or email Linda Greene to sign up.
TBA MIXED TOURNAMENT - Call or email Rich Daidone to sign up.
TBA MENíS TOURNAMENT - Call or email Bernie Troy to sign up.
For those who are more serious about their competitive paddle, here's the site to go to for signing up. You will find national and regional tournaments for everyone - Juniors, Men, Women, Mixed. Good luck!! http://www.paddlepro.com/news/index.shtml
There is a major non-competitive element about our club. There are weekday nights reserved for open play for both men and women, several Sunday Scrambles during the season, paddle and pizza parties for our children and their guests, and a huge party at season's end. In addition, with the opening of our new warming hut we hope to hold more events around a social theme.
